We feed probiotics daily for digestive health. We also add in paste if a little one has loose stools. Little ones can go downhill fast and become acute so quickly. Never let a kitten go more than 24-48 hours with loose stools. This is the brand our vet recommends and we have had great success with it! This link is to the kit with both products but you only need the paste if there is an issue. I keep some on hand at all times.
We often get asked for recommendations for kitty litter. We've found certain cats like certain types. Because of that we expose them to both clay and pine pellets. We will then let adopters know which their kitty prefers. One good litter to start your kitten on is Dr. E's with the attractant to motivate them to use their new box in their new home.
Our kittens are exposed to closed litterboxes, semi-closed boxes, and open boxes. We also have furniture with boxes inside. We have boxes everywhere because kittens are like toddlers, when they need to go they can't always hold it. That said for sanitation purposes, we prefer stainless steel. Yes they are more expensive but they clean up better and there are no lingering diseases or parasites that are left with plastic products. We dump and bleach our boxes every other day. Stainless holds up for years even with this strict disinfecting process.
ChomChom Rollers kept getting recommended to me but seemed like an expensive gadget to me. I used the rubber glove method for getting hair off my furniture. One Black Friday sale offered the ChomChom 50% off and I decided to try one. I will never go back! These are amazing! You might want to see if you can get one on sale!
